Lowe walking up Kilimanjaro for Charity!
Chris Lowe, member of the Veterans XV team is walking up Kilimanjaro for Help for Heroes and Cancer Research.
Lowe commented “I felt with all the military connections at the rugby club that the help for Heroes would be well supported and so I felt it was most appropriate charity that the club supported”. “Whether or not we support the wars our armed forces are fighting, we must support the troops who are bravely doing their jobs despite the incredible dangers they face. Sadly the world has become an ever increasing selfish place but these individuals on a daily basis put others before themselves to the extent that they are willing to sacrifice their lives” continued Lowe. We should all feel proud of the incredible work and sacrifice the men and women of our armed forces make so please take this opportunity to support them.
Lowe is also making the trip also in aid of Cancer Research UK after a much loved friend of theirs, Jane was diagnosed with terminal cancer. “Jane and her family are like family to us, especially Megs with her family at such a distance. They have been an integral part in us settling in the UK. To say they have always been there for us doesn't do it justice” said Lowe. Continuing he said “All too often cancer is responsible for taking those we love and often, long before they have had a chance to live their lives”. Most people have been touched by this awful illness in some capacity. We need to do all we can to find answers to this disease as soon as possible.
Lowe asks for all donations and well-wishes to be given through his webpages (links below). As going to press, Lowe has reached a fabulous 91% of his goal of £500 but hopefully with help from fellow members of the club we can reach and go past his target.
